TEST CENTER

Bulk Material Testing - Try before you buy
In an effort to ensure success in every application, Schenck AccuRate offers and promotes pre-sale material testing. Using a full service test lab staffed by experienced material handling specialists, Schenck AccuRate customers have an opportunity to witness a live material test involving their own material and the equipment under consideration. Videos are supplied to customers who are unable to attend a material test.

Testing benefits Schenck AccuRate as well as our customers. That's why in all but a few special cases, our "Test Center" provides testing services free of charge. A day or two of time invested in the test lab enables equipment configurations and performance to be confirmed, starts the training process, and noticeably shortens commissioning and start-up times. Note: In-plant product material testing can also be arranged. Contact the Schenck AccuRate Sales Department or your local Schenck AccuRate Sales Representative for details.

The Testing Process
Since the testing methods can be as important as the results themselves, Schenck AccuRate has developed a process that uses analytical tests and actual equipment - specific performance tests to select the optimum solution for each application. Starting with the use of a Jenike & Johanson Shear Tester, a battery of tests can be run to determine compressibility (bulk density as a function of pressure), particle size distribution, angle of repose, angle of slope, moisture content, proper hopper wall angle for mass flow, and minimum hopper outlet diameter. This information is then used to select the proper equipment configuration or verify selections made previously.

Once an equipment configuration has been selected, another set of tests are run to verify operating performance. For example, for applications involving feeders, (30) separate one-minute feed samples are taken automatically using laptop computers linked to check scales. The data points are then used to calculate the mean, standard deviation, and feed rate accuracies vs. setpoint at 1 and 2 Sigma levels. Adjustments are made to the equipment setup and the test is repeated as required until optimum performance has been reached. At that point, hard-copy test reports and performance graphs are prepared and carefully explained to each customer at the conclusion of the testing session.

Best of all, in addition to the equipment warranty, lab testing enables Schenck AccuRate to offer its customers an application-specific performance guarantee.
